Our client are one of the world’s leading professional services companies operating in the global markets of Water, Energy and Resources, Environment, Property and Buildings, and Transportation. They are looking for a Technical Director – Power to join their team in the Abu Dhabi office.

Reporting directly into the Infrastructure Group Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Identify, evaluate, develop or acquire and close business opportunities in the region
  • Develop strong client relationships adding value for our clients, and enhancing existing client relationships
  • Manage Power projects both new and upgrades
  • Manage and overview design work, with progressively increasing contribution to the project
  • Interface with and manage project stakeholders both internal and external, to establish and agree project baselines, manage changes and resolve issues
  • Provide technical expertise; develop project team members, graduates and other professionals
  • Contribute to bids, proposals and peer reviews
  • Support an innovative and problem solving approach to consultancy, adding value for our clients and developing strong client relationships
  • Support wider business development initiatives and raise the profile of client through high standards of project delivery, thought leadership and client networking

Core Competencies

  • Experience of managing Power projects and teams in the Power sector
  • Strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills that can lead and manage teams on a project basis so that the solutions delivered to clients are innovative, sustainable and appropriate
  • Experience in a multi-disciplined team in the bidding, clarification, negotiation and development up to financial close of Power projects in the region
  • Experience working directly or indirectly within the Power Transmission product line
  • Good understanding of the commercial issues surrounding the operation of power stations
  • Middle East experience and a working knowledge of design, international standards and construction practices specific to this region, will be considered favourably
  • Change management or business transformation skills an advantage
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to build excellent client relationships

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering or Science
  • 15 years’ of broad experience within the Power sector having a utility-consulting background and fluent with regulated monopoly businesses
  • Member of relevant professional body or association will be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of public and private sector
  • Demonstrate proficiency in accordance with project management and industry standards
